About the Saint Anselm Skiing Program
The men's and women's Alpine Race Teams compete in the MacConnell Division of the Eastern Collegiate Ski Conference (ECSC). Teams from the following schools compete in the division: University of Connecticut, Brown University, Boston College, University of Massachusetts, Babson College, Plymouth State College, Colby-Sawyer College, Smith College, and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology

The ECSC is the northeastern conference in United States Collegiate Ski Association. The United States Collegiate Ski Association (USCSA) represents some 150 member schools and 3,800 student-athletes across the country. Individual achievement, as well as team success, are both recognized within the USCSA. Successful racers and teams compete in postseason racing at the conference and national championships.

Student-athletes on MacConnell Division teams are very competitive. It is one of the strongest collegiate ski racing divisions in the country. The majority of the racers attended traditional high schools, but a significant number competed at the secondary school level while attending racing academies. Most students are U.S. citizens, but there are a number of international students who attend MacConnell Division schools. The competition is keen and genuine, but so is the camaraderie and respect that racers and coaches have for one another.

The men's and women's teams begin dry land training begins in September and continue until first-semester finals. The teams will again conduct their annual race camp at Mount Saint Anne in Quebec, Canada, during the second week of January prior to the start of the second semester. During the carnival season, on-snow training is conducted at Crotched Mountain Ski Area, approximately 30 minutes from campus. Racing commences in mid-January. Carnivals are held for five straight weekends, at Cranmore Mountain (North Conway, N.H.), Waterville Valley (N.H.), Mount Sunapee and Pats Peak Ski Areas (N.H.), Wachusett Mountain (Mass.), Loon Mountain (N.H.) and Ascutney Ski Resort (Vt.). The regional and national championships follow. Saint Anselm's racers are also eligible to participate in the NCAA regional and national championships.

At Saint Anselm College, we are focused and committed to the task at hand, which is to prepare the student-athletes to compete at the highest level possible without sacrificing their academic excellence. The alpine team's GPA ranks among the highest of varsity teams at Saint Anselm on a yearly basis. In addition to the success in the classroom, the men's and women's teams are equally committed to community involvement. As an example of the team's community involvement during the 2006 Thanksgiving season, the men's and women's teams played an integral role in the distribution of Thanksgiving baskets to people throughout Manchester.

If you are a high school racer and have a passion to continue racing among the best collegiate ski racers in the country, consider Saint Anselm College.
