Le Moyne Defeats Saint Anselm, 3-0
Caron Goes Down With Injury
MANCHESTER, N.H. -- Senior Jessica Russell (Oswego, N.Y./Oswego)
totaled eight kills, four blocks and four service aces to lead the
Le Moyne College women's volleyball team to a 3-0 victory over Saint
Anselm College today at the Southern New Hampshire University Fieldhouse.
The Dolphins improved to 10-9 overall and 2-2 in the Northeast-10
Conference, while the Hawks dropped to 4-14 overall (1-5 NE-10).
Le Moyne posted identical wins of 30-20 in games one and two, and
completed the sweep with a 30-22 victory in game three.
Senior Britni Trapasso (North Tonawanda, N.Y./North Tonawanda) totaled
26 set assists for the Dolphins, while juniors Jessica Burns (Valencia,
Calf./Saugus) added seven kills and eight digs. Freshman Jenna Tomko
(Lakewood, Wash./Bellarmine Academy) also had seven kills for Le
Moyne.
Senior Melissa Wright (North Attleboro, Mass./Bishop Feehan)
led the Hawks with 11 kills, classmate Robin Hinchey (Billerica,
Mass./Billerica) contributed a team-high 21 assists. Sophomore Karen
Lyons (Pocassett, Mass./Bourne) chipped in a team-high 16 digs.
Junior Marissa Caron (Madbury, N.H./ Oyster River) went down with
an ankle injury during the first game and returned only momentarily
before leaving the match. Her status is day to day.
The Hawks return to action Wednesday (10/9) when they travel to
UMass Lowell for a Northeast-10 match at 7 p.m.
