Bentley Defeats Saint Anselm, 3-0 Springfield, Mass. (September 14, 2002) --The American International College volleyball team split a tri-match with Saint Anselm College and Concordia this afternoon in Springfield, Mass. In the opening game against the Hawks, the Yellow Jackets battled back down 2-1 winning the final two games to win the match (24-30, 30-22, 28-30, 30-26, 15-5). Courtney Bliss (Orlando, FL) led the Yellow Jackets with 20 digs, 16 kills and five service aces, while Andrea Beauvais (Dearborn Heights, MI) contributed with 19 digs and 12 kills. Kristy McIntyre (Falmouth, Mass.) registered 15 digs, while freshman Dawn Richardson (Bristol, Conn.) gave out 44 assists and helped out with 13 digs. The Hawks were led by junior Marissa Caron (Raymond, N.H.) who tallied 13 kills, seven total blocks and four service aces. Sophomore Karen Lyons (Pocassett, Mass.) picked up 22 digs, while senior Robin Hinchey (Billerica, Mass.) distributed 32 assists. In game two, the Yellow Jackets again battled for five games; however losing to Concordia (30-27, 19-30, 15-30, 30-19, 12-15). Bresicani led AIC with 17 digs along with 12 kills, while Bliss added 15 digs and 13 kills. McIntyre and Beauvais each chipped in with 13 digs, while Richardson gave out 39 assists. For the Clippers, Esther Cortorreal (Santo Domingo, DR) and Jamie Cahoon (E. Amherst, N.Y.) recorded match highs with 22 digs and 19 kills, respectively. Sophomore Elise Maier (Brighton, CO) helped with 45 assists. Concordia rounded out the day by defeating Saint Anselm College
3-0 (30-17, 30-16, 30-21). Courtney Brown (Tempe, Az) and Cahoon
each finished with 12 kills, while Maier added 36 assists. For the
Hawks, Hinchy distributed 21 assists and Melissa Wright (N.
Attleboro, Mass.) recorded six kills.
