Hawks Swept By Bulldogs

SMITHFIELD, R.I. — Freshman outside hitter Michelle Muniz (Guaynabo, P.R.) had match highs of 14 kills and 21 digs to lead Bryant to its sixth consecutive win - a 3-0 decision against Saint Anselm Tuesday night in a Northeast-10 Conference match.

The win improved Bryant to 18-0 all-time against Saint Anselm in a series that began in 1978.

The win was the Bulldogs’ fifth straight by a 3-0 score, and it extended Bryant’s streak of consecutive games won to 18. The six-match win streak, meanwhile, marks a season-high and is the longest since the Bulldogs won 12 straight last season.

Senior middle hitter Sarah Smith (State College, Pa.) had 11 kills for the Bulldogs, while junior opposite Lorinda Eggers (Los Gatos, Calif.) finished with 10 kills on 14 swings. Senior middle hitter Bunmi Akinnusotu (Woonsocket R.I.) had a team-high five blocks.

Bryant improved to 13-6 overall and 3-1 in the Northeast-10 Conference with the win, while Saint Anselm fell to 3-10 overall and 1-4 in the league.
