Blanchard Leads Saint Anselm Women Over Pace
Hawks Complete Season Sweep Of Setters

Pleasantville, NY (February 11, 2003)- Visiting Saint Anselm College used a 28-point, 10-rebound effort from Brianna Blanchard (Presque Isle, Maine/ Presque Isle) as the Hawks defeated Pace University, 64-56 in a Northeast-10 Conference game at the Goldstein Fitness Center Arena.

In the second half, Pace trailed by as many as 20 points, 58-38, with 7:13 remaining before the Setters mounted a comeback. Andrea Boone (Schenectady, N.Y.) scored seven points as the Setters outscored the Hawks 18-6 the rest of the way, but it was a case of too little, too late as the Hawks held on for the win.

Blanchard scored 21 of her points in the first half and finished the game with a 10-for-20 shooting mark. Sara Petrowicz (Grafton, Mass./ Holy Name) also had a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds as the Hawks won consecutive road games for the first time this season.

Saint Anselm improves to 12-11 overall, 8-11 in the NE-10 while Pace, which has lost five straight, falls to 3-20 overall and remains winless in league play at 0-18.

The game started slowly as the teams combined for 10 turnovers (five each) in the first three minutes of play. Saint Anselm was the first team to reach double digits after a pair of Blanchard free throws made the score 11-9 with 9:26 remaining.

The scoring did pick up after that however as the Hawks took a 36-27 halftime lead behind the play of Blanchard, who hit on 7-for-11 shooting in the half. After sharing in the early sloppy play, Saint Anselm did not commit a turnover over the final 17:00 of play while the Setters finished with 13 first half miscues.

Boone led the Setters with 11 points (4-for-7), six rebounds and five assists, while Andrea Padelsky (Lebanon, Penn.) finished with 10 points.

Pace returns to action on Saturday with a 1:30 PM home game against Merrimack. Saint Anselm also returns to action Saturday as the Hawks finish off a three-game road trip to New York with a 1:30 PM game at Le Moyne.
