Saint Anselm Outlasts Wayne State
Blanchard Leads Five Players In Double Figures,
Hawks Win 92-82

Kutztown, Pa. (November 23, 2002) --Saint Anselm put
six players in double figures and finished the game on a 23-8 run
to register a 92-82 victory over Wayne State (Mich.) on day two
of the Holiday Inn Conference Center Classic at Keystone Arena in
Kutztown, Pa.
Saint Anselm improves to 2-0 on the season while Wayne State fell
to 0-2 with the loss.
Brianna Blanchard
(Presque Isle, Maine/ Presque Isle) scored 21 points and added seven
rebounds from Saint
Anselm, which grabbed the lead for good with four minutes to play
on a lay-up by Blanchard.
Jennifer Reddish
(Weymouth, Mass./ Archbishop Williams) (15 points), Molly
Dullea (Longmeadow, Mass./ Longmeadow) (14 points, six assists),
Sara Petrowicz
(Grafton, Mass./ Holy Name) (11 points, 14 rebounds) and Jen
Carson (Townsend, Mass./ N. Middlesex) (11 points, five rebounds)
helped a Saint Anselm offense that shot 47 percent from the floor
and 74 percent from the free-throw line.
Saint Anselm led by as many as nine points early in the second half,
but Wayne State, led by Keneisha Moss (27 points, eight rebounds),
stormed back with a 13-3 run to take a 62-61 lead with 10:24 to
play, the first of eight lead changes and seven ties down the stretch.
Eventually, Blanchards layup with 4:00 to play gave Saint
Anselm an 80-79 lead it would not relinquish. Blanchard sealed it
hitting five of six free throws in the final minute.
Blanchard and Dullea were named to the all-tournament team for the
Hawks, who shot 26-for-35 from the free throw line after struggling
on day one of the tournament.
The Hawks will return to action Tuesday night when they host Pace
in the season's home opener at 5:30 PM.
