Saint Anselm Breaks Skid
Hawks Keep AIC Winless, 16-6

Manchester, N.H. (April 21, 2003)- Freshman Jacquelyn
Trayers (Sandwich, Mass./ Sandwich) registered five goals and
one assist as the Saint Anselm women's lacrosse team broke into
the win column in the Northeast-10 Conference with a 16-6 decision
over visiting American International College in Manchester.
The Hawks improve to 2-8 on the season, 1-5 in the NE-10 while AIC
remains winless at 0-8 overall, 0-5 in league play.
Saint Anselm's Meg Shea (Rochester, N.Y./ Mercy) started
the scoring just 52 seconds into the contest with a marker assisted
by Kristen Conte (Sheldon, Vt./ Bellows Free Acad.). Shea,
Trayers, and Katelynn O'Connell (Sandwich, Mass./ Sandwich)
each logged a pair of first half goals as the Hawks took a 7-3 halftime
lead.
AIC cut the lead to 8-5 at the 25:25 mark of the second half on
a goal from Corrie Ackerley (E. Longmeadow, Mass.) but the Hawks
responded with three goals in a span of just 1:57 to put the game
away.
O'Connell had four goals in the game for Saint Anselm, while Kristen
Conlon (Milton, Mass./ Milton) had a hat trick. Sophomore goalkeeper
Karen Spellman (Woburn, Mass./ Arlington Catholic) stopped
six shots for her second win in net.
AIC was led by Ackerley and Cassie Weir (Hebron, Conn./ RHAM), each
of whom had two goals.
The Hawks return to the field on Wednesday when they host Merrimack
in a 3:30 PM start on Senior Day.
