The History Society strives to foster the appreciation of history and encourage its study as a discipline at Saint Anselm College. Its program varies according to interests, and events are open to the entire academic community. The Society sponsors field trips, movies, and lectures; participates in Black History Month and Women's History month activities; sponsors a reception for new history majors and new history faculty at the beginning of the academic year, a review for comprehensive exams for senior History majors, and faculty presentations on current research. Annually it sponsors at least one name speaker, and it makes an award to a senior history student. The Society also acts as a link between history faculty and majors and provides an open forum for discussions and innovations. All enrolled students at Saint Anselm College are eligible for membership in this organization.
