Daniel Bernard Roumain

Daniel Bernard Roumain

“About as omnivorous as a contemporary musician gets.” - The New York Times

“An evening of chamber music that totally rocks, as in rock concert!”

Classical, Jazz, Hip-Hop, Violin and String Quartet
Musical Portraits of the American Civil Rights Movement

From the moment he walks on stage with hip-length dred locks, faded jeans and fashionably worn Pumas, you can feel a rather cool variation in theme. And, for those who prefer their chamber music seasoned with a dash of funk, rock, and hip-hop, this is it!

Daniel Bernard Roumain (DBR) is a quintessential composer, performer, violinist and band leader whose vibrant musical imagination creates phenomenal pieces ranging from orchestral scores and energetic chamber sounds to rock and electronica.

DBR has collaborated with and been commissioned by myriad world class musicians including Philip Glass, Ryuichi Sakamoto, D.J. Spooky that Subliminal Kid and Elan Vytal aka DJ Scientific, offering a series of lyrical pulsing duets and solo works.

Along with his band, The Mission, a young and amazingly talented amplified string quartet, he presents lively genre-jumping shows that have been the season highlight at venues in Chicago, New York and Boston, as well as the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C.
