Walking the Tightrope

The Los Angeles 24th Street Theatre

In 1959, young Esme makes her annual trip to the seaside to visit her beloved grandparents. But this year something is wrong: only her grandfather is there to welcome her. Struggling to make sense of his grief, Esme's grandfather spins a marvelous tale to explain Grandmother's absence: she has joined the circus to realize her dream of being a tightrope artist! How can this story be resolved? A single clown has the answer. Through exquisite acting, lighting, and stagecraft, Los Angeles' innovative 24th Street Theatre retells a provocative Mike Kenny story that ultimately celebrates the magical power of love and family. Walking the Tightrope is thought-provoking family entertainment. Don't forget our talk-backs with LA 24th Street Theatre's actor-educators after each performance!
