Check out the construction of the Goulet Science Center greenhouse!
The new 650 sq.ft. greenhouse has state-of-the art environmental controls to maintain two growth rooms, one for desert-loving plants and one for plants that prefer it warm and humid.

Demolition of old greenhouse
Demolition of the old greenhouse and preparation for foundation work.

The foundation was completed this summer with radiant heating added as part of the poured concrete floor.

Construction on the framing was followed by the installation of impact-resistant acrylic roof glazing and tempered glass wall panels.

Motorized vents and a shade system were wired to an environmental control panel.  Each room is managed by a separate environmental controller that monitors and adjusts temperature, light, and humidity.

Metal halide growth lights have recently been installed to extend the "daylight" hours in winter.  These lights have already been put to good use providing optimal growing conditions for semester-long student experiments.

Hardware has just arrived for the last component of the greenhouse, an electronically regulated misting system to control humidity levels.  This system should be up and running soon.
