B. . Long Essay

Evaluate Dennett’s Multiple Drafts theory of consciousness. This will involve the following steps. (You will have to do each separately and label them.)

1. Summarize the main points of the theory and say how it differs from the alternative theories: Substance Dualism, Dual Aspect theory, and Identity Theory)

2. Summarize what you believe to be the strongest argument for Dennett’s Theory and say why it is strongest.

3. Give two objections to Dennett’s theory.

4. Discuss whether you agree with Dennett’s view or not and why. You will probably want to consider responses one could give to Dennett’s argument and how Dennett would respond to them. You should also discuss Dennett’s response to the two objections you raised and whether they work or not.

5. Concluding Evaluation. Draw the appropriate conclusions from your discussion in part 4.
