Medicine, dentistry, optometry,
podiatry, and veterinary medicine are among the most desired
career paths for students entering college as a science major. Saint Anselm College offers all of the
courses required for entrance into these schools. The Biology
Department offers a General
Biology (BI 03-04) course that is required for admission
to most professional schools, as well as a number of
additional courses that can help
to prepare you for a career in the health
sciences. A
health professions adviser (Dr. Carolyn Weinreb, Chemistry
Department) is available to help you plan your
undergraduate experience (both academic and extracurricular)
so that you are best prepared to apply to and ultimately
succeed in one of these schools. The
health professions adviser is available to all students
considering a career in health care, whether their decision is
firm or the idea is one of several that they have in mind.
The
adviser also helps those who plan to apply for entry-level
Master's programs in the allied health fields such as Physical
Therapy, Occupational Therapy, and Physician's Assistant
programs. It is suggested that you meet with Dr. Weinreb
early in your college career if you are interested in pursuing
a career in any of these areas.
