ELEMENTARY GREEK REQUIREMENTS
CL 102
SPRING SEMESTER 2007
Regular attendance and participation in class
You will need to read one or two chapters of the textbook per week, and be ready to answer questions about the chapter in class.
Attendance will be taken. Regular attendance and participation in class will be essential for your progress in this course.
If you have missed a class, or expect to, call or email me to find out about the missed work.
If you are thinking about cutting a class because you are unprepared, don’t. Come anyway and tell me in advance if you would prefer not to be called on.

Timely submission of homework
Homework will be assigned at the end of most classes, to be handed in at the beginning of next class.
If you cannot attend class, make sure to leave me the assignment in advance in Room 85, or ask a fellow student to hand it in.
Late submissions will be corrected, but will not count toward your homework grade.
Homework assignments are designed to indicate to me how well you have understood the current lesson.
All assignments must be complete, legible, submitted on time, and undertaken with due effort .
Assignments will receive a grade of +, , or - according to the following guidelines:

+ Complete and well done. Difficult problems are solved, or close to solved. Attention to detail, few careless mistakes. Score out of 5: 5
...Complete and satisfactorily done; Some success solving difficult problems. Avoidance of careless mistakes. Score out of 5: 4.25
- Complete, but in need of substantial improvement. Many of the problems were not solved. Score out of 5: 3.5

The homework grade for the course will be an average of the student’s homework assignment grades, and will constitute one fifth of the course grade. As you can see from the above guidelines, assignments that are complete, legible, submitted on time, and undertaken with due effort will earn at least a C- grade; well done assignments will get 100%. Consistent attention to written homework should be a priority.
