AGRIPPA DEAD!!
LIVIA SUSPECTED!!!

Old Claudius contributes plot explication to fill in the 9 year gap since the end of episode one. He claims that Livia poisoned Agrippa. No ancient source supports this. Even Graves does not state it as fact, but certainly wants his audience to believe Livia was responsible for Agrippa's sudden demise. Later in the novel, Agrippa's son Postumus tells Claudius that he accused Livia of this crime to her face. So a nice piece of fictional innuendo (ala Tacitus), but no hard evidence that Livia murdered Agippa. The episode relies on Graves for this theme.
