Thais smells worse than the clay pot of a greedy cloth-fuller,

Old but just now broken in the middle of the street,

than a he-goat fresh from love, than the mouth of a lion,

than a Transtiberan hide dragged by a dog,

than a chick when it decays in an aborted egg,

than an amphora tainted by spoiled fish sauce.

So that the deceitful woman may exchange this stench for another odor,

as often as she seeks the baths with clothing discarded

she is green with psilothro, or, is concealed smeared, with pungent chalk,

or she is covered by the fatty bean three or four times.

When she thought herself to be satisfactorily safe on account of a thousand cheats,

when she has done everything, Thais smells like Thais.
