The Saint Anselm Lecture Tuesday, April 22, 2008 at 7:30 p.m. North Lounge, Cushing Center Saint Anselm College Manchester, New Hampshire This annual lecture by a distinguished academician is part of the college's celebration of the feast day of its patron saint, Saint Anselm of Canterbury, and is open to all members of the college community as well as the general public. Metaphysics Colloquium The 2007 Colloquium was held June 20–21. The principal speaker was Benjamin Hill (University of Western Ontario). The respondents were Steven Baldner (Saint Francis Xavier, Nova Scotia) and David Banach (Saint Anselm College). The three papers will appear in the Fall 2007 issue of The Saint Anselm Journal. The Saint Anselm Conference The next conference will be in held in April 2009 to commemorate the 900th anniversary of the death of Saint Anselm. Brian Davies, O.P. of Fordham University will give the keynote address. American Catholic Philosophical Association The satellite session sponsored by the Institute at the 2006 ACPA Conference was entitled "Saint Anselm's Moral Discourse." The three papers by Montague Brown, Katherin Rogers, and Siobhan Nash-Marshall can be found in The Saint Anselm Journal Vol. 4, No. 2. The Institute will sponsor a satellite session at the 2007 ACPA Conference entitled "Saint Anselm, Original Sin, and Human Free Will." The three presenters are: Katherin A. Rogers (University of Delaware), "Anselm on Free Will and the (Possibly Fortunate) Fall" Stan Tyvoll (Marymount Manhattan College), "Anselm on the Problem of Original Sin" Matthews Grant (University of Saint Thomas), "Anselm, God, and the Act of Sin" Links Gregory Sadler (Ball State University), a contributor to the Journal, has written an entry on Saint Anselm for the Internet Encyclopedia of Philosophy. The entry includes a biography of Anselm, a discussion of his influences and methodology, a summary of several of his major works, and a list of primary and secondary sources.
