To help save space, many of the old issues of our newspapers and journals have been converted into microfiche and microfilm. These microforms are basically miniaturized photocopies of entire periodicals that have been transferred onto either rolls of film (microfilm) or transparent cards (microfiche). Our microform collections are stored in large cabinets on the Lower Level, with periodicals arranged alphabetically by title. Ask at the Periodicals Desk if you need help locating a particular title. These cabinets also hold many special collections of early newspapers, manuscripts, and government documents that could be valuable in your research; see this partial list for examples.
