"Vietnam Nurses" Wins an Emmy for Editing

"Vietnam Nurses with Dana Delaney"“Vietnam Nurses with Dana Delaney” won an Emmy for editing at a ceremony Sept. 24 in New York City.

The documentary, which was the brainchild of nursing Professor Margaret Carson, had been nominated for two News and Documentary Emmys, including one for Outstanding Historical Programming – Long Form.

The winning editor is Dan Meadows, who himself was born in a field hospital in Saigon during the Vietnam War. His parents were missionaries.

“Vietnam Nurses” debuted in August on WE TV and is narrated by actress Dana Delaney, who portrayed a Vietnam nurse in the ABC program “China Beach.” Carson met the nurses interviewed in the film during her research into post traumatic stress disorder among Vietnam War nurses. She came up with the idea of the documentary, which she helped produce, as a way to preserve their stories.

The documentary is available on DVD.
