Father Jonathan DeFelice, O.S.B., president of Saint Anselm College, announced that Washington Post columnist E.J. Dionne has joined the New Hampshire Institute of Politics as a seni
or research fellow.
The journalist and scholar, who is also a Brookings Institution senior research fellow and Georgetown University professor, will guest lecture in one section of the college’s New Hampshire Primary course and will serve as a resource for students, faculty and the media.
On November 5, at 7 p.m. in the NHIOP Auditorium, he will offer a lecture about the upcoming presidential election, "The New Hampshire Primary in American Politics.” The event is free and open to the public.
“We are thrilled to provide the expertise of such a well-versed man to our students,” said Paul Manuel, executive director of the NHIOP. “It is an honor to have E.J. as a colleague, and all of us look forward to learning from him over the next few months.”
E.J. Dionne is a graduate of the Benedictine-run Portsmouth Abbey School in Rhode Island. He graduated from Harvard University and earned his doctorate from Balliol College, Oxford, where he was a Rhodes Scholar.
He spent 14 years with TheNewYorkTimes before joining the WashingtonPost. His twice-weekly column appears in more than 90 newspapers in the United States and abroad. He has published three books, including the best-selling WhyAmericansHatePolitics. Dr. Dionne will be in-residence at the NHIOP on a bi-weekly basis throughout the upcoming months, culminating in a week-long stay during the New Hampshire Presidential Primary.
