The New Hampshire Institute of Politics at Saint Anselm College is pleased to welcome four visiting scholars who will take part in the institute’s New Hampshire Primary Week events starting Thursday, Jan. 3.
R. Shep Melnick, of Boston College; John Carr, of the U.S. Catholic Bishops Conference; E.J. Dionne, of Georgetown University and the Washington Post, and Niall Palmer, of Brunell University, West London, U.K., will offer their perspectives and insights during lectures and panels at the NHIOP auditorium. The events are all free and open to the public.
Thursday, Jan. 3
10 a.m. - noon. Melnick, the Thomas P. O’Neill, Jr. Professor of American Politics at Boston College, will appear on a faculty panel on the NH Primary. He focuses his research and writing on the intersection of law and politics.
7 p.m., Iowa Caucus Watch Party.
Friday, Jan. 4
11 a.m. Dionne will offer his “Reflections on the Iowa Caucus Results.” Dionne is a Washington Post columnist, Brookings Institution Senior Research Fellow, Georgetown University professor, and NHIOP Senior Research Fellow
Sunday, Jan. 6
2 p.m. Carr, who serves as director of the Department of Social Development and World Peace of the U.S. Catholic Bishops Conference, will deliver a lecture on "Faithful Citizenship."
Monday, Jan. 7
10 a.m. Dionne will participate in a faculty panel on the NH Primary .
7 p.m. Palmer will offer a lecture entitled "A British View of the New Hampshire Primary." He has published The New Hampshire Primary and the American Electoral Process and American Politics and Society in the Twenties. Two books on the Republican and Democratic parties are scheduled for publication in the near future.
