Members of Congress Examine The Transportation Future

The New England Council is hosting a conference of New England members of Congress who, together with a host of state and regional experts, will focus on transportation issues. This two-day summit will be held on campus in advance of the next federal surface transportation reauthorization.

The event will take place Sunday, April 6, from 5 to 7 p.m. in the New Hampshire Institute of Politics and Monday, April 7, in the Dana Center from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

The members of Congress will participate in panels with leading transportation officials from federal and New England state governments, representatives of regional planning commissions and transit authorities, and faculty from university-run transportation centers. The panels will address federal funding, economic development, interstate agency cooperation, and affordable housing and the environment all as they relate to transportation.

The following members of Congress are tentatively scheduled to participate:  John Larson (D-Conn.); Christopher Murphy (D-Conn.); Michael Michaud (D-Maine); John Olver (D-Mass.); Barney Frank (D-Mass.); Niki Tsongas (D-Mass.); Michael Capuano (D-Mass.); Carol-Shea-Porter (D-N.H.); Paul Hodes (D-N.H.); and Peter Welch (D-Vt.).
