Father Jonathan DeFelice, O.S.B., president of Saint Anselm College, announced that Dale Kuehne will become interim executive director of the college’s New Hampshire Institute of Politics for the coming academic year.
Kuehne, associate professor of politics, will replace Professor Paul Manuel, politics, who will leave the NHIOP directorship July 1 to become chief operating officer for the Center for Global Engagement in Washington D.C. The center is a think tank that promotes religious freedom worldwide.
Kuehne, who currently serves Saint Anselm College as special assistant for government relations, was the founding director of the NHIOP. He holds a Ph.D. and Master’s in government from Georgetown University, an M.A.T.S. from Gordon-Conwell Seminary and a bachelor’s in political science from the University of Minnesota.
Kuehne’s appointment comes as the NHIOP has named its first Public Advisory Board, chaired by Sen. Judd Gregg and Secretary of State William Gardner. "It’s fitting that Sen. Gregg, who was so instrumental in starting the Institute, is now taking a leadership role to take us to the next level and make sure the NHIOP continues to be an outstanding resource for Saint Anselm and for New Hampshire," said Kuehne.
