Group to Discuss Book on Opus Dei Nov. 13

A discussion of a book by author and journalist John Allen on the Catholic organization Opus Dei, will be held Thursday, Nov. 13, at the New Hampshire Institute of Politics.

Allen, a prominent Catholic journalist, wrote Opus Dei: An Objective Look Behind the Myths and Reality of the Most Controversial Force in the Catholic Church. The discussion will take place from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m., and is free and open to the public.

Opus Dei was represented with much controversy in Dan Brown’s novel, The Da Vinci Code, but Allen presents a fair and informed view of the organization. He received his Master’s Degree in religious studies from the University of Kansas, and is now the Vatican analyst for CNN and National Public Radio. Thomas Larson, associate professor of philosophy, will lead the discussion.
