Laine Remignanti, of Durham, has been named the 2009 Albert J. Gordon Summer Research Fellow at the New Hampshire Institute of Politics at Saint Anselm College. This summer position is made possible through a generous gift from the late Mr. Albert J. Gordon, of New York City, a former principal in the investment-banking firm of Kidder Peabody (now Paine Webber).
Modeled after endowed fellowships associated with graduate and doctoral programs, the fellowship at Saint Anselm is designed to provide outstanding students and recent alumni with research experience related to public policy and public affairs. Remignanti is the seventh fellow to participate in the program since its inception in 2004.
“We are saddened to learn of the recent death of Mr. Gordon, whose generosity has helped Saint Anselm students deepen their understanding of politics, government and democracy,” said Rev. Dale Kuehne, Ph.D., executive director of the Institute. “We will honor Mr. Gordon’s memory by continuing to select outstanding Gordon Fellows, and fulfilling our mission to educate, engage and empower our students and the community for a lifetime of civic participation.”
Remignanti ’09 graduated with honors from Saint Anselm, earning her Bachelor of Arts in English and a certificate in French. While at Saint Anselm, she was inducted into Pi Delta Phi, the National French Honor Society. “I cannot imagine a more enlightening and rewarding way to spend the summer than participating in the research projects undertaken at the New Hampshire Institute of Politics,” Remignanti said.
