Vice President for College Advancement
Dear Alumni and Friends,
It is my great privilege to share some of the milestones and personal stories your generosity has made possible. As students and faculty push the boundaries of knowledge and understanding, your commitment is an inspirational reminder that you believe as strongly as I do in Fr. Jonathan’s vision of national prominence for Saint Anselm College. Alumni and friends have long been the college’s partners in developing and delivering an exceptional learning experience.
Your participation and contributions have created new opportunities for civic-minded students at the Meelia Center for Community Service and at the New Hampshire Institute of Politics. Your generosity brought home ice advantage to men’s hockey and the creation of women’s hockey with the opening of Sullivan Arena. Your thoughtful support continued to provide scholarships to the great majority of Saint Anselm students who receive financial aid.
Maintaining access to a Saint Anselm education remains one of the cornerstones of our beliefs. Enhancing that education also means creating new opportunities for faculty. Thanks to the spirited leadership of trustee Richard Bready ’65, the college established its first endowed faculty chair, a milestone that propels not only the reputation of the college, but also the reputation of each and every graduate.
Of course, we take great pride in celebrating extraordinary gifts that have the potential to transform the Saint Anselm experience; yet equally important is participation at all levels of giving.
One might ask, does my $50 really make a difference? You bet it does! It not only becomes part of a network of gifts to support students and learning, it also increases our ability to secure funding from outside sources. Foundations and corporations want to know that alumni and friends believe in what we’re doing.
Most importantly, however, your gift says you care. It says you value Catholic education in the Benedictine tradition—balanced, fulfilling, demanding, lifelong.
More than 1,000 alumni and friends said they care by directing their gifts toward annual scholarships that right now are helping students pay tuition. Their participation was part of the Bready Challenge, which also resulted in 57 new scholarships at the $2,500 level or above.
The response was overwhelming—we reached the goal within months of announcing the challenge—and my sincere hope is that together we can keep a Saint Anselm education within financial reach for talented students.
I am profoundly grateful for your faith in Saint Anselm College. Your giving not only says you care, it empowers students and faculty today and allows the college to pursue a vision of greatness for tomorrow.
Sincerely,
James F. Flanagan
