Fund Raising’s Fountain of Youth

— Laurie Morrissey

The commitment made by our younger donors is very special. Twenty alumni who graduated over the last decade are associate members of the President’s Society—meaning that they have made donations between $500 and $999. Meet just a few of the young alumni who consider Saint Anselm College well worth their support.

The GradysLara (Gancarz) Grady ’94 and Kevin Grady ’96
Lara and Kevin work in two different worlds—Lara in criminal justice and Kevin in finance. But on weekends, they spend most of their time together renovating their home, a 100- year-old New Englander in the north end of Manchester. They bought the house a year and a half ago, and have been painting, wallpapering, and gardening ever since. “It’s a passion,” says Kevin of the project.

In college Kevin worked full-time as student manager of the dining hall. After graduation, he found his niche in the financial services field and is now director of product development at Fidelity Investments in Boston. He maintains close ties with the college, as a member of the executive committees of the Alumni Council and the Boston Business Roundtable. “I like the fact that the college is steadfast in its values,” he says. “It has a commitment to giving back to the community.”

Lara, a criminal justice major, discovered her calling through an internship in the Hillsborough County Attorney’s Office, where she was a victim advocate. She worked there for seven years after graduating, and in 2003 took a position as victim witness coordinator at the Merrimack County Attorney’s Office. She helps crime victims and their families navigate the court process, explaining procedures in lay terms, providing information on crisis centers and counseling services, and making sure their voices are heard by the prosecutors. “There’s not a lot of money in it, but the reward is when you establish trust and know you’ve helped someone.”
