Matthew Condon ’02
Before he was a senior, Matthew already had a good start on his career. The summer after his junior year, he worked as an intern at Cornerstone Financial Group in Burlington, Mass. He returned for two semesters.
Matthew is now a financial advisor at the company, helping clients review insurance options and manage investments. “I love it. I have an absolute blast,” he says—which would explain why he takes cell phone calls and e-mails from clients while on his summer vacation in North Carolina.
He enjoys getting to know people and helping them. “Our clients are our clients for 20 or 30 years. It’s an important relationship,” Matthew says. He credits his alma mater’s liberal arts focus for his ability to relate to a wide variety of people. “It’s wild how the humanities background helps,” he says. “When you mention that you graduated from a college with a liberal arts emphasis, people realize you didn’t just focus on one thing. It helps clients open up to you.”
“Saint Anselm had a great influence on me; I still draw on my experiences there,” Matthew says of his desire to give back. “It shaped me into the person I am today.”
