Vice President for College Advancement
Dear Alumni and Friends,
With yet another exceptional year of fundraising behind us and a record year for The Saint Anselm Fund, I want to offer my personal thanks to the more than 6,000 alumni, parents and friends who made it possible. Your generosity speaks volumes about your confi dence in Saint Anselm College, and each year I am increasingly humbled by the passion and pride of this community.
I also want to express my sincere appreciation to our 38-member board of trustees, especially the chair and vice chair, Michael Sheehan ’82 and Richard Meelia ’71, and Chairman of the President’s Society Bill Kelly ’67. Their leadership, expertise and genuine goodwill continue to impress me.
The participation of trustees, alumni, parents and friends is an integral part of the college’s ability to deliver the best Catholic, Benedictine education possible. As Fr. Jonathan has said, we are determined to become one of the nation’s top Catholic, liberal arts colleges over the next decade, and his vision includes a place for every one of you.
On the previous pages, you’ve seen how your generosity links directly to students, faculty, and the outstanding scholarship that takes place on this campus. Through the various portraits, features and photos—and through the honor roll that follows—we proudly celebrate gifts of all levels.
From Shailagh Kennedy ’05 who gave $25 to Richard Bready ’65 who gave $1 million, and every single person in between, your gift says you care. It says that you believe in a Saint Anselm education and want to see the college achieve a new level of distinction.
So what exactly does that mean for our philanthropy? While there are many priorities that require our attention, one of the most meaningful things we can do is increase support for annual student scholarships. The ability to help talented students finance their education is a hallmark of the nation’s top liberal arts colleges.
We take great pride in knowing that each year we are able to help a few more students afford a Saint Anselm education, but the financial reality is that the college is still behind many of its competitors in this critical area.
Without question, you have done your part. I challenge you now to not only continue your support, but to ask fellow alumni, parents or friends to consider Saint Anselm as part of their charitable giving. Increased participation combined with the visionary leadership of Fr. Jonathan and our board of trustees is a powerful combination for the future of this institution.
Sincerely,
James F. Flanagan
