The college has finalized an agreement with the country's largest daily newspaper to cosponsor America's Youth Forum 2004, a first-of-its-kind outreach to young voters. High school seniors and college students from 200 classes around the country will participate in an eight-week curriculum and Web-based look at issues affecting young voters.
These issues will be determined by a USA Today reader survey and followed by Web-based exercises to focus American youth on the presidential primary. The program will culminate in a forum at the New Hampshire Institute of Politics, in which classes will have the opportunity to engage candidates in real-time via remote satellite and Web-based technology. The Carnegie Corporation has provided a $50,000 grant to underwrite the program. Visit the America's Youth Form Web site for more information.
