Marie A. George, Ph.D., the college's new executive vice president, has spent much of her career—as a student, faculty member and administrator—in Catholic institutions of higher education.
"Catholic higher education is a more complete, more holistic educational process that really aims at transforming individuals," she said. "It allows faith and reason to intersect."
George joined Saint Anselm College on July 1, after serving for three years as vice president for planning and institutional effectiveness at the University of Scranton, a Jesuit institution. She was chosen following a national search that yielded 75 candidates.
Her work in higher education also has included teaching and administrative positions at College Misericordia and at King's College.
She earned a B.S. in mathematics from College Misericordia, an M.S. in counseling from the University of Scranton, and a Ph.D. in organizational leadership from the University of Pennsylvania.
George is married to Francis J. George Sr. and they have a 23-year-old son, Francis Jr.
