In Memoriam

Dorothy (Falvey) CollinsThe college community mourned the loss of Dorothy (Falvey) Collins , who died March 16, 2005, in Bedford, N.H., at the age of 88. Collins was the wife of former trustee and executive vice president Robert J. Collins ’37, ’HD ’80. Citing her long support of the mission of the college; her presence at innumerable campus events; and her unfailing hospitality, college president Fr. Jonathan DeFelice, O.S.B., remarked at her Mass of Christian Burial, “If Saint Anselm College ever had a ‘First Lady,’ it was Dorothy.” In addition to Robert and Dorothy Collins House, Falvey House, opened in 1988, is named for her. After graduating from Framingham State College, Collins was a respected elementary school teacher. She leaves behind four children, all Saint Anselm alumni: Dr. Robert “Skip” Collins ’67, David Collins ’77, Christine Powers ’73 and Brian Collins ’81. She also leaves 13 grandchildren, including Timothy Powers ’01.
