Athletes Score Post–season Honors

Women’s Hockey
Junior captain Emily Lapworth was named to the ECAC East All-Conference second team. She anchored a defense that allowed only 27 goals in 25 games with 11 shutouts.

Freshman standout goalie, Andrea Berlin, was named to the ECAC East All-Conference All-Rookie team. She was third in the conference with a 1.10 goals against average and a .936 save percentage, and led the league with eight shutouts.

Men’s Hockey
Senior Jim Merola was named Northeast-10 Goaltender of the Year for the second straight season, after posting a 2.82 goals against average, a .903 save percentage and a 12-8-1 record in 21 regular season games, playing nearly 1,200 minutes. He was also named to the Northeast-10 All Conference First Team along with forwards Josh Hechter and John Cronin, and defensemen Brian Dobler and Brett Smith. Bostjan Kolaric was named to the Northeast-10 Conference Second Team.

Hechter and Smith were also named to the ECAC East All-Conference Second Team. Hechter led the team in points with 46 and tied a single game record with six assists against Stonehill on Feb. 22.

Smith was third in the league in defenseman scoring with 27 points (nine goals, 18 assists). Dobler received an ECAC East All-Conference Honorable Mention with 22 points (eight goals, 14 assists).

Men’s Basketball
Junior forward Jim Moore was named to the ECAC Division II All-Star Second Team and fellow junior Matt Cahill was named to the Honorable Mention Team.

Moore was also named to the Northeast-10 Conference First Team and was also tabbed as the NE-10 Tournament Most Valuable Player. Cahill, also selected to the Northeast-10 Conference First Team, averaged 16.6 ppg on the strength of 83-percent free throw shooting.

Junior point guard Jim Holsworth, one of just two players in the conference to rank among the league leaders in points (14.5 pg), assists (4.7 pg), steals (2.1 pg), 3-point accuracy (.440), and free throw accuracy (.840), was named to the Conference’s Third Team.
