College President Fr. Jonathan DeFelice, O.S.B., announced that philosophy major Matthew Moloney, of Brooklyn, N.Y., will receive the Fr. Bernard Holmes, O.S.B., Senior Award for the 2005-2006 academic year.
This award, which provides a full tuition scholarship for the senior year, was established through the generosity of Mr. and Mrs. Robert C. Davison, in memory of Fr. Bernard Holmes, O.S.B. Mrs. Davison continues to serve on the college’s board of trustees.
“I am humbled by this award,” Moloney said. “Just to be nominated was such an honor. I’ve always tried to do my best, but I’m not looking for awards. I just want to do the right thing.” Moloney is considering both teaching and fire fighting as his life’s work. He also sees coaching high school sports in his future. He intends to apply to the Alliance for Catholic Education master’s program at the University of Notre Dame, and take the written test for the New York City fire department.
