John F. Looney '51 , a former Saint Anselm College professor, died April 4, 2005, in Manchester, N.H., at the age of 76. Dr. Looney earned a master’s degree from the University of New Hampshire and served with the U.S. Army in the Korean War. He earned a doctorate in philosophy from Lehigh University in 1961, and taught at St. Peter’s College in Jersey City, N.J. for seven years. Dr. Looney joined the Saint Anselm College history department in 1967, chaired the department for one year, and was an early seminar leader in the Humanities Program, “Portraits of Human Greatness.” He retired in 1992 after 25 years on the faculty.
