He also advises students headed for law school, and uses his vast network of contacts to help students find interesting and valuable internships.

“Mike Smith serves as a wonderful role model for students in so many ways,” says Fr. Augustine. “He has appreciation for the life of the mind as evidenced by his career in academics and he has an appreciation for the struggles of the disadvantaged as demonstrated by his work as a lawyer.” What’s more, says Fr. Augustine, he embodies the Christian values of compassion and charity.

“It’s great that our students can appreciate him for more than what he discusses in class. I hope they can appreciate what it means to be in his midst.”
