Top Honors
Jane Metzger '77Jane (Wernig) Metzger ’77,  chief nursing officer and senior vice president at Rhode Island Hospital, was honored recently with one of four national awards presented to nurses for their exemplary performance.

The Providence, R.I., nurse was selected out of 500 nominees for The New York Times Job Market “Tribute to Nurses” award. The only New England recipient, she was nominated in recognition of her leadership in caring for patients after the tragic Station Nightclub fire in West Warwick, R.I.

She was also recognized for her commitment and compassion, and for enhancing professional development activities and elevating staff satisfaction. Metzger earned a master’s degree from Northern Illinois University and a doctorate in nursing sciences from Widener University.
