Brian O'Loughlin, a French teacher at Saint John’s Preparatory School in Danvers, Mass., was invested as a Knight of Malta in the Sovereign Military Hospitaller Order of Saint John of Jerusalem of Rhodes and of Malta, American Association. The ceremony took place at the Cathedral of St. Patrick in New York City and was presided over by His Eminence Edward Cardinal Egan, Archbishop of New York.
The 900-year-old Knights of Malta is a lay religious order with a tradition of ministering to the sick and the poor and defending Catholic faith and values.
O’Loughlin has taught at St. John’s for 35 years. He is a lector in his parish and volunteers at My Brother’s Table, a soup kitchen in Lynn, Mass.
