Girl's Inc.

Gals for Pet Pals at Girl's Inc. focused on the safety of animals within a shelter and when they leave the shelter.  To make the animals safer we need to collaborate with a particular shelter and the people that adopt those pets.  We developed a way to help the shelter and communicate more successfully with potential adopters by creating (in the process) a pamphlet and video that each adopter will read and watch.  These tools will focus on what it takes to raise and adopt an animal and make sure they do so in a safe and proper manner.  The problem we are addressing happens when a person does not fully understand the enormous task of owning a pet and how to do so properly.  Our goal is to educate potential adopters so that animals are safer when they are adopted.

Youth Development Center
There is a dire need for a transitional center at the Youth Development Center.  This transitional center, Stark House will help residents who are apt to repeat criminal behaviors.  By reopening Stark House, residents would experience a safe gradual integration back into society.  Eligibility to Stark House would be determined by a board consisting of a treatment counselor, counselor, teacher, staff member, and a resident.  Stark House would serve to give residents new freedoms and opportunities.  The residents would be responsible to attend new and existing programs, educational classes, gain employment, and learn basic skills like managing a bank account and earning a drivers license.  Treatment programs would be individualized to increase challenges for residents and to achieve personal responsibility.  Treatment will be tailored to the individual and will be confidential.  As a result, residents will increase confidence and knowledge to and be an asset to the community.

Saint Benedict Academy
We the people of C.A.R.E (Community Angels Respecting the Elderly) strive to help the elderly population by raising money for their needs, and by providing company and joy in their lives. This group was established due to the great percentage of this population who do not have anyone to visit them or care for them.

We, A.B.F. (Animal's Best Friends) are focusing on the issue of animal abuse and the general welfare of all animals.  Although we would love to save all animals, which are being abused, we will focus on making a difference even if it is small.  We will attempt to fix the problem of strays as well as make a small difference in the lives of abused animals.  We wish to make significant donations to shelters so that they can better care for the animals.  A.B.F. is interested in this issue because we truly believe that animals should be treated with respect.  The problem of abuse in animals occurs in homes, shelters, and with strays who do not have homes.  Animals need our help.

Crispin's House After School Program
In Partnership with Mountain View Middle School and Plus Time New Hampshire Update
We have had great meetings. We have been discussing some goals that they would like to work on for next semester. This included: working cooperatively, contacting the people on the contact list, actually doing a project and accomplishing something. We talked about the different ways that you could contact people such as phone, email, and by a letter. We discussed the difference between writing a personal letter and writing a more professional, business letter. We all thought it was a productive meeting.

At the end we praised them for their hard work and each one of us went around the table and said what we enjoyed, liked, or what could have been better.
