(Previously Recorded) Career Chat LIVE - Starting off Right: Introducing Development Programs
January 15, 2021 |
Join our employer partners, alumni, career center staff, and fellow students at Career Chat LIVE, where we will discuss development programs geared to new graduates. Many employers offer management training programs, called “Development”, “Leadership” or “Rotational” programs. These programs range from one to three years, and provide management or functional training in the organization’s business. New hires often enter the program together in a “class”, offering a shared experience and team environment. While some programs seek certain majors, many are open to all, and often employers seek students from a liberal arts background. The “class” may rotate through different functions, or sometimes at different locations, giving the new hires a broad understanding of the business. The participants are generally fast-tracked for advancement in roles after the completion of the development program.
Many students like the idea of starting with a group of other recent grads, all going through training together. It’s a great way to make friends and can make the transition to work and possibly a move to a new city easier. Hear from our employer partners on their development programs unique to their organizations.
