Banned Book Discussion: Persepolis
September 26, 2018 | Geisel Library
Join us in the library’s Reading Room for discussion of Marjane Satrapi’s graphic-novel-format memoir about her childhood growing up during the Iranian Revolution. Released in English in 2003 to great acclaim, and adapted as a film in 2007, it wasn’t until 2013 that it was challenged in U.S. schools. Objections have included the book’s “coarse language and scenes of torture” and concerns over “Islamic literature available to students.”
