Citizenship Week Celebrations 2016

September 6, 2016

By Katelyn Ellison

This September, the New Hampshire Institute of Politics and the Kevin B. Harrington Student Ambassador's Civic Engagement Committee will host a series of events in celebration of Citizenship Week and Constitution Day (September 16). Each event will focus on the American Constitution, citizenship, and democracy.

The Civic Engagement Committee, led by co-chairs Thomas Mannion '18 and Brandon Pratt '18, works to develop students' citizenship skills by planning nonpartisan programs to help students register to vote, learn about issues, volunteer, and turn out at the polls.

Beginning on Thursday, September 8, with a voter registration drive in Davison Hall, activities will continue over the next two weeks, culminating in a naturalization ceremony on September 23 in which over 50 individuals will be sworn in as United States Citizens.

In addition to Mannion and Pratt, this year's committee includes Liam Anderson '17, Cody Aubin '18, Ben Bossi '18, Christien Cardona '17, Josh Caruso '19, Patrick Derenze '17, Peter Elia '19, Samuel Ennis '19, Taylor Head '19, Nicole Landry '17, Sybille Legitime '18, Connor MacGregor '19, Timothy Madsen '19, Megan Miller '19, Rebecca O'Keeffe '18, Liam O'Rourke '19, Stefan Skalinski '18, and Brian Stankiewicz '17.
