Speaker Series: "Into the Fight" with Jon Ossoff Managing Director & CEO at Insight TWI

November 28, 2017 | NH Institute of Politics

It’s time for young leaders in America and around the world to charge into the arena. The incumbent generation of politicians has proved itself incapable of principled leadership and effective governance, but they will not relinquish power without a bitter fight. We need fresh, fearless voices and new ideas to break out of this downward spiral — to break through the failures of imagination, the incompetence, and the corruption that have led our country and humanity to the brink.

Born and raised in Georgia, Jon Ossoff is a film and television producer, investigative journalist, and former Congressional defense aide.

Mr. Ossoff was the Democratic candidate in the historic 2017 special election for Georgia's Sixth Congressional District. Powered by more than 12,000 volunteers, Mr. Ossoff's campaign executed the largest door-knocking and GOTV program ever in a U.S. House race and broke all-time national fundraising records, raising more than $30 million with an average campaign contribution of less than $30.

Mr. Ossoff was defeated by less than four points in a district where Republican Congressman Tom Price had in November been re-elected by a 23 point margin. The New York Times reported that the Ossoff campaign "produced probably the strongest Democratic turnout in an off-year election in at least a decade” and "brought a surprising number of irregular young and nonwhite voters to the polls."

Mr. Ossoff is managing partner and CEO of Insight TWI, an Emmy award-winning film and television production company that specializes in investigative reports for international broadcasters. His company has exposed atrocities committed against women and girls by ISIS in northern Iraq, dozens of corrupt judges and officials around the world, extrajudicial killings by security forces, and more.

Mr. Ossoff has degrees from the London School of Economics and Georgetown University's School of Foreign Service.
