Thirty-six Anselmians Inducted into Social Sciences Honor Society

In a virtual ceremony held on May 5, 36 Anselmians were inducted into Pi Gamma Mu, the International Honor Society in Social Sciences.

Eligible junior and senior candidates must maintain a 3.0 grade point average in a social science major, including communication, criminal justice, economics, history, international relations, politics, psychology, American studies, peace and justice studies, social work, or sociology. Members must also fall among the top 35% of their class.

Pi Gamma Mu, the oldest and preeminent interdisciplinary social science honor society, was created in 1924 at Southwestern College in Winfield, Kan. The mission of Pi Gamma Mu is to encourage and promote excellence in the social sciences and to uphold and nurture scholarship, leadership, and service. Pi Gamma Mu serves the various social science disciplines which seek to understand and explain human behavior and social relationships as well as their related problems and issues. Currently, there are around 150 active chapters in the United States and overseas.
