Brief synopsis of teaching expertise/research/professional interests:
As a veteran practitioner at the high school level, my research interests include: teachers' affective qualities relative to teacher effectiveness; teacher "personhood" and the inner landscape of teachers; the spirituality of teaching; teachers as reflective practitioners; developing teachers as researchers; and teacher leadership. I'm also passionate about issues related to adolescent literacy, methodologies of teaching writing, and Catholic education.   My professional experience includes 15+ teaching English at the high school level in both public and private high schools. I've also served as a high school administrator and adjunct instructor at three colleges. Additionally, after having left teaching after five years to pursue writing full-time, I worked as a writing consultant and as a copy editor before returning to classroom teaching.
