Vol. 8, No. 1 (Fall 20012)

After a two-year hiatus, The Saint Anselm Journal is pleased to be back online. In this volume, we have papers from two of our satellite sessions at American Catholic Philosophical Association meetings and also a paper delivered at the Fourth Saint Anselm Conference in 2009.

ACPA Satellite Sessions

At the fall 2009 and 2010 meetings of the American Catholic Philosophical Association, the Institute for Saint Anselm Studies sponsored satellite sessions on Saint Anselm and his thought. The Saint Anselm Journal is pleased to publish the papers from those sessions. The 2009 session was a discussion of Katherin Rogers' book Anselm on Freedom. We include the three papers: W. Matthews Grant, "Anselm on Freedom: A Defense of Rogers's Project, A Critique of her Reconciliation of Libertarian Freedom with God the Creator Omnium," Kevin M. Staley, "Rogers' Little Swerve: The Confessions of a Not-So-Open-Theist," and Katherin A. Rogers, "Anselmian Theism and Created Freedom: Response to Grant and Staley."

The 2010 session focused on the relations between beauty, philosophy, and faith. We include the three papers: Fr. John Fortin, O.S.B., "Wicked Good: Saint Anselm on the Place of Hell in the Beauty of Creation," Montague Brown, "Anselm on Beauty and Truth," and Michael Waddell, "Integrating Beauty: Reflections on the Psychology, Ontology, and Etiology of Thomas Aquinas's Summa Theologiae 1.5.4."

Paper from Anselm Conference

The Saint Anselm Journal is also pleased to publish a fine paper by Catherine Brown Tkacz entitled "Quomodus Deus Homo: Anselm in the New Millennium," which she originally delivered at the Fourth Saint Anselm Conference sponsored by the Institute and held at Saint Anselm College April 17-18, 2009.
