Class Meeting Time: Tuesdays and Thursdays, 1:00 PM-2:15 PM
of the Course: This course examines Spanish history from roughly 1500 to
1700. Topics will include the creation of the Spanish state, political liberty
in 'absolutist' Spain, the Spanish empire in Europe and America, the Spanish
Church and the Catholic Reformation, and early modern Spanish culture. The course
will use early modern literature and primary sources to examine these issues.
Note: This is an Honors class.
