89

When the drunk Panaretus was seeking now in the middle of the night

a late hour chamber pot with his thumb asserted,

A Spoletine jug was given, but one which he himself had drained dry,

Nor had the entire flask been enough for him solo.

That man with the highest confidence having discharged back the jar’s own wine

Returned the full volume of the wine jug.

Are you amazed that the wine flask took as much as he had drunk?

Cease your amazement, Rufus: he had drunk undiluted wine.
