Saint Anselm College cut the ribbon on a new $2 million, 9,000-square-foot fitness center that was opened to students, faculty and staff Monday, Feb. 9.
The three-story center was constructed on the south side of the Carr Center, which houses the college’s athletic department. Its floor-to-ceiling windows overlook the college’s baseball and football fields, and the center offers 37 cardiovascular machines, 39 strength pieces and about 7,000 pounds of weights.
The college has renovated its existing gym to serve exclusively the needs of Saint Anselm’s varsity athletes.
Father Jonathan DeFelice, O.S.B., president of Saint Anselm, called the opening of the new fitness center “a milestone moment in the expanding history of Saint Anselm College.
“Our commitment to leading balanced lives that include work and prayer extends of course to the work of maintaining a healthy lifestyle, one that reinforces our energy and renews our focus in every other aspect of our lives,” he said.
