These guidelines establish a set of recommendations for the creation, management, and maintenance of official college web content to ensure a consistent, accessible, secure, and user-focused web presence that reflects the mission and values of Saint Anselm College.
Scope
These guidelines apply to all academic departments, administrative units, research centers, and affiliated organizations that publish or manage content on any digital platform representing Saint Anselm College including:
- Websites hosted under anselm.edu
- Subdomains
- Microsites, blogs, or standalone pages using college branding
- Web applications accessible to internal or external audiences
Platform and Hosting
- All college websites must be hosted within the college's official Content Management System (CMS), unless otherwise approved.
- Third-party platforms, custom websites, or externally hosted domains require written approval from College Communications and Marketing Web Services.
Design and Branding Standards
- All college web properties must adhere to official branding guidelines, including logo use, color schemes, fonts, and templates.
- Only approved college templates may be used unless explicitly granted an exemption for academic or research purposes.
Accessibility
- All web content must comply with current WCAG standards.
- The Web Services team will conduct periodic accessibility audits, and violations must be addressed in a timely manner.
Content Management
- Content owners are responsible for reviewing and updating their content at the suggested frequency of at least twice per academic year.
- Any changes or updates should be promptly submitted to the Web Services team.
- Outdated, duplicate, or inaccurate content may be removed at the discretion of the Web Services team following notice to the responsible unit.
Domain and URL Management
- New domains or subdomains must be requested through and approved by the Web Services team.
- Personal or departmental initiatives should use college-branded subdirectories (e.g., anselm.edu/department-name) rather than new domains unless there is a strategic or branding need.
Security and Privacy
- All web platforms must follow college IT security protocols and data privacy standards.
Enforcement
- Non-compliant websites may be subject to removal, redirection, or deactivation following written notice.
- Continued violation of this policy may result in escalation to the appropriate administrative leadership.
Support
- The Web Services team offers consultation, training, and content support for all departments.
